  3. Re: Audio/Visual Bargains

Been looking to add a pair of decent closed 'phones to my collection recently ... mainly for gaming, but also for some telly and music. I've hovered over the buy button on some Beyerdynamic DT770s for a while, but spotted this today and have snapped up a pair of Denon AH-D1100s from Play for £39.99.

I tried these in HMV a wee while back and considered buying them at £120 ... they are a steal at this price and I'm sure will work well with my Mixamps, offering something different to the other cans I have.

Carphone Warehouse have currently listed the Nexus 7 (WiFi, 32GB) for £189.

If you're lucky/silver tongued you can try get John Lewis to price match Carphone Warehouse, one benefit being John Lewis offering a 2 year guarantee.

Keep in mind however that at one point Carphone Warehouse has listed the tablet for £179 before. Regardless for those who want a tablet now then this is a pretty decent price.

They also have the 3G 32GB model for £235.
  5. Real Racing 3, currently free for iPhone.

    Fricking amazing game!
  6. Yer great game. Are they going to start charging then , i thought it was a free game ?
  7. Yesterday was the first I saw of it in the Top Free Games section. There are a lot of in-game purchases available so being EA I wouldn't bet against them making the 'base' game free and then charging for everything else.
  8. John Lewis are now selling the WiFi + 3G version of the Asus Google Nexus 7 for £239.00 - again the benefit compared to other retailers is the 2 year guarantee.

  9. Some good gaming bargains on Amazon App store today. I picked up Rayman Jungle Run, Broken Sword II, and North vs South (Yay!) for 99p each.

#1 son has been playing North vs South this evening, and has declared it 'great'. He's obviously got good taste.

  10. I'm assuming you're running these on your Samsung Galaxy Note?
I thought the Amazon App sale was only applicable to the Kindle Fire range of products?

If not I'm going to have to allocate space on my Xperia Play (damn 512MB internal memory!) and look into getting Rayman Jungle Run!
  11. Yep, they are running on my Note.

I haven't played Rayman yet, but it looks fun.
  12. Carphone Warehouse have dropped the price of the Asus Google Nexus 7 32GB WiFi Model to £179
    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy/ASUS_NEXUS_7_WIFI_32GB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy/AS ... _WIFI_32GB</a>

As posted previously it might be worth requesting John Lewis to price match as it comes with a 2 year warranty.

Alternatively you could request your local Currys/PC World to price match if there's a Carphone Warehouse nearby (and has stock) for a price match and an additional discount of 10% from the difference.
  13. Rayman Jungle Run can now be purchased directly from the Google Play Store for 84p:

Also Another World 20th Anniversary Edition is 80p:
    <a class="postlink" href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dotemu.anotherworld" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... otherworld</a>
  14. Argos eBay Outlet are selling manufacturer refurbished Google Nexus 7 Tablets for £149.99 (£3.95 postage):
    eBay Number: 350759796445

    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-GOOGLE-NEXUS-7-INCH-TABLET-32GB-/350759796445" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASUS-GOOGLE-N ... 0759796445</a>

Not as good as when it was previously £125-odd though it was hard as heck to buy with people buying multiple at once...

Be quick (and don't forget about Nectar points)!

tl:dr - Purchased one - will now look into getting a dual-core (at least) phone to replace my Xperia Play.

Ended up buying one, been looking for a tablet and considered technically inferior yet more expensive (Samsung Tab 2 10.1 As-New Refurb @ ~£190/Samsung Note 10.1 As-New Refurb ~£250) alternatives given the N7's drawbacks (no SD Card slot) and age (people expecting a new iteration come Google's I/O event in May) but at £153-odd with postage fudge it!

Going to look for an alternative to the Nexus 4, while cheap for a lot of tech and power, it's power I don't need nor see myself using when the tablet arrives (light phone user after all). Therefore I shall look for a phone with tech but not necessarily powerful (maybe a dual-core).

A phone that has my interest is the Sony Xperia T, while technically inferior it does have decent specs (NFC, 720p Screen) with some advantages to the Nexus 4 (SD Slot, Better Camera) - the question is whether I can find one which has an unlocked bootloader and being confident enough to root and install a custom rom on it...

Wish me luck that the N7 comes in working and I find an (Bootloader unlocked) Xperia T. :thumb:
  15. Re: Audio/Visual & Tablets

Swype has launched on Google's Play Store with a limited sale price of 65p
  16. Re: Audio/Visual & Tablets

Erm, doesn't Swype come pre installed? Or is that just on certain phones?

My Swype is a pain in the arse at times.

Same post using Swypes best guesses...

Ween doesn't Swype cone prostrated? Or is that just on certain phones?

My Swype is a pain on the are at tones.
