Art Project - Gaming addiction

Discussion in 'Battlefield' started by d r, Aug 29, 2018.

  1. Hi there,
I am sorry I have never visited one of these forums so I don't even know if I am posting in the right place.. but to briefly explain Iam an artist working on the project that raises awareness about addictions. It's been an ongoing thing for the past 4 years and I am hoping to work with someone who has dealt/ is dealing with gaming addiction.
I interview the participants and then create large scale abstract portraits or sounds scapes.. I would explain more later on..
Do you know anyone who might be willing to participate?

    Thank you !

  2. Not sure anyone would willingly come forward to admit they have a gaming addiction or even if anyone does have one.

If they DID have one and recognised that then surely they would be dealing with it by NOT visiting the forum?

Kind of guessing there admittedly. I've not got one for the record. My addictions are caffeine, nicotine and wanking. But they are the great addictions

  3. you would be surprised, lots of people, me included , well I am not sure about here, but they do come forward to talk about it, that's the whole point, that it's nothing to be ashamed about. I am not sure if this will work but I thought I might try .. thanks for your reply

  4. No you just buy them and not play them

I've been gaming since the late 80's I wouldn't say I'm addicted it's a hobby or a way of life for me something I've always done like supporting a football team (I don't watch any sport just using as an example).

Also addiction in games could amount to any number of things depending on the game in question, some play call of duty mp solely and no other games others play fut on fifa and gamble with the card packs to get the strongest team possible.

Others play games every night as a means to wind down after work or they may have families and instead of going out on the piss use this as a means to put time into something else instead.

To answer your question though I don't think you'll find anyone addicted to games here merely a group of people who enjoy playing games as a past time.

  6. Agree.

Thing is we all tend to be a lot older in FT jobs with children so dont have the time to play constantly. A younger crowd maybe but we are majority older folks.

We just wish we had the spare time to get addicted

  7. Don't try and paint us with the same old brush as @Millsy or @Realale not in that camp just yet.

Would certainly lighten the back log
